Quick Reference for Photos related to Adnan Syed’s case #
This is a quick reference to help you look up photos the Baltimore City Police Department took while investigating Adnan Syed for Hae Min Lee’s murder and a few others that were widely distributed after the success of the Serial podcast. The first set were released by by Undisclosed Podcast with help from the MSNBC/Shift show The Docket and were recovered from the Baltimore Circuit Court archives. Another, larger set were included in an MPIA response from BPD and dumped, anonymously, on an internet forum. A few more police photos were published by Serial. There is a small amount of overlap, shown in the Undisclosed table.
This website does not contain any photos of Hae Min Lee’s body in Leakin Park or at autopsy, nor photos of the people involved in the case, beyond those which were very widely distributed by Serial etc. Please also see our privacy policies.
The photos linked below are jpegs, which are generally easier to use, but sometimes additional details are visible on the original files which were supplied as pdfs (if you look very closely). Find these here (for the Undisclosed photos) or, for the others, look in the MPIA file, section 3, pages 2223 to 2523 (includes a full set of duplicates). See Physical Evidence page for further information about the police photos, particularly the Laboratory Division Mobile Unit reports (aka Fingerprint reports) which are supposed to list when and where all these photographs were taken.

These photos were used as State’s Exhibits at trial. The Undisclosed Podcast team, with MSNBC’s The Docket, recovered these copies from the archives at Baltimore City Circuit Court. Not all of the photos described in the Trial Transcripts were published, e.g. those showing Hae Min Lee in Leakin Park were held back out of respect for her family.
